Alumni Spotlight: Krystal Dominguez, M.S. Clinical Nutrition
Krystal Dominguez began her transformative journey at Keiser University in late 2020, seeking a new path after more than a decade as a licensed cosmetologist. The COVID-19 lockdown gave her time to reflect, and at age 30, she boldly transitioned back to school through Keiser’s Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition –Coordinated Bridge Program, a testament to the institution’s commitment to supporting career transitions.
Krystal credits Dr. Hix for leaving a lasting impression with her compassion, positivity, and innovative teaching. The supportive environment created by faculty helped Krystal feel heard and empowered throughout her academic journey.
A highlight of her program was the Advanced Practice rotation in acute care. This hands-on experience, made possible through Keiser’s coordinated program, helped ease the stress of internship placement and connected her with impactful mentors.
Now working as a Dietary Technician at a long-term care and skilled nursing facility, Krystal continues to build her expertise, assessing malnutrition risk, gathering dietary history, and supporting patients daily.
Her journey is a testament to the power of reinvention, determination, and the life-changing impact of education.
